The Solitude and other Obsessions is a book by five poets, Uma Sudhindra, Binod Kumar Panda, Trupti Kalamdani, Dr Shruti Arabatti and Saurin Desai. Each of them has written wonderful poems, expressed their thoughts beautifully.
Uma’s style is writing more of coherent poems with easy language that hits you right when you read it. The poems on the surface appear to be simple but the meaning are skin deep. She switches between different themes and most of all I liked the poem ‘A Restless Soul’.
Binod has more of a serious tone in his poems and he also writes more about life and it’s different stages.
Trupti has written poems mostly on love, relationships and self-love. Her poems were in accordance to cycle of life where you go through different phases and acquire new experiences and then with time you grow stronger and start to believe in yourself more than ever.
Shruti’s poems were engrossing and she played with her where you wouldn’t understand the meaning behind the words right away, you’ll have to read them again and again to uncover the true meaning.
Saurin’s poems had to do with reality and everyday life. His poems were short but there were deep meanings behind the words. ‘Regrets’ was one my favourite.
